What is a Stitch Lounge you ask? Allow me to explain why the Stitch Lounge is the perfect class environment for you!
So many people have asked if we have a class for this or a class for that...and we try our best to accommodate, but then when we schedule that class, and it isn't the right time or date for everyone who wanted it to attend! Thus the Stitch Lounge was birthed!
It's as easy as 1-2-3!
#1 Stop by AST and pick out your project. Our helpful "Fabric Diva's" will help you select everything you'll need to make it.
#2 Familiarize yourself with your pattern making sure you read through the entire instructions. This will ensure you bring all the necessary tools you'll need to your Sewing Lounge session. Most sewing supplies are available at AST if you forget something!
#3 Pick a Sewing Lounge session that works best for you and come on in! You don't have to pay for your session up front, but adding you to our list will let us know how many people to expect.
At the AST Sewing Lounge, you will find a knowledgeable sewer facilitator waiting to help you with your project. Everyone will work on their own creations, at their own pace. The instructor will be there to help with any questions or problems that may arise so you can avoid any frustration that happens when you simply don't understand a direction.
This lounge was created to mimic a sit-n-sew, so feel free to bring any sewing project that you like to make. You must know how to use your machine; our instructors are not technicians and will not be able to assist you in any machine operations. Also, embroidery machines are not welcome at the Stitch Lounge, please visit our club section & join our embroidery club!
Most of our teachers are avid quilters, but many have skills that include pattern making and pocketbook and bag construction and some garment sewing!
The Stitch Lounge fee is just $3.50 per hour. You will "clock in" when you arrive...and "clock out" when you leave! Pay for only the time you're here. (Example for a full day: All day on a weekday $24.50, all day Saturday's is just $17.50.)
Keep in mind that there will be many projects going at the same time, and your teacher will be helping the entire room. This is not intended to be a one-on-one tutoring session. Ask our knowledgeable staff if your skill level and the project you have chosen is the right fit for the Sewing Lounge.
